Re: Derrr no never done that. When i joined we worked single everywhere even in Sydney. Yeah I am that old. If it is on call and you aren't demanding another officer be called out with you to a code 2 then you only have yourself to blame.
So you have done that, very good, ambulances also used to be drawn by horses. Furthermore there are no officers in town to be called out, and if they were shouldn’t they have the opportunity to have some undisturbed days off? without maintaining rosters for the circus. The union up here is piss weak full of brownnosing suckholes. They don’t want to rock the boat which sets them up for a promotion in the future. This has been brought up with them time and time again but nobody does a thing. They are so far up managements arse it’s not funny. The outer-hunter has the worst rosters in the state, also they had the last stations in the state that had single officer stations. They voted against enhancing these stations so they could make call-out money backing them up. I just don’t know how they get away with it. Officers have been putting in IMS, SAC 2, for years now and noone in management every contacts them. It’s only a matter of time before someone dies which had probably happened already, or an officer is seriously injured because of it.
If anyone has any advice please post here.

The NSW State government cops allot of criticism from the media in relation to the welfare of NSW ambos. Remember the Parliamentary inquiry, bullying and harassment etc. You would expect then that some in government would like us to be seen as happy little ambos in the eyes of the general public. And guess who has influence, one way or another, on the workings on the NSW IRC. Could it be the NSW government?. Don’t underestimate the power and influence of those who play up at the big end of town. So your reference to something that might or might not have happened at the Queensland IRC has no relevance down here.
Anyway, HSU is going to look pretty silly trying to represent ambos with the majority of them in EMSPA.

They are now saying on their website to protest to the union to utilise the EMSPA submission, but if you're in EMSPA why would you be in the union therefore why would the union take notice of non members.

QLD EMSPA has been going for six years with steadily increasing membership,HSU has been going for.... well I don't know at least 20 years with rapidly decreasing membership,(I'm only talking Ambos here)NSW EMSPA has only been going 2 months, so give them a chance.
QLD EMSPA gave money to National Party, only a matter of time before they become affiliated down here too.

Someone earlier said that EMSPA were kicked out of the QIRC...well ummm....ahhh...actually they were invited INTO THE QIRC to present their submission. They were invited BY THE IRC for a couple of reasons...
1. The submission was made by QAS employees
2. The submission was made by persons who were not members of the union (LHMU).
3. The submission was made by persons who were interested parties to the EPA (Award) negotiation.
The submission was presented to the QIRC by EMSPA Secretary and one other EMSPA member. They were made in the presence and with the support of the EMSPA legal team. The submission was signed and approved by over 1130 QAS Officers...A MAJORITY!
...who "strenuously refused to have the submission entered into proceedings?" The fucking union...the fucking union who are supposed to represent ambos. Now what is happening? LHMU members are pissed right off as the EMSPA submission was a good one and substantially better than what the union put together....why? Because the LHMU are exactly that....Liqour Hospitality & fucking miscellaneous. Ambo's...who? The EMSPA submisison done by ambo's had the support of the majority of operational staff (not management)...LHMU members (or those left) have been frantically emailing LHMU demanding them include the EMSPA submission....which is now timetabled to be looked at in August.
So what few members LHMU have left are leaving...I wonder where they are going....
But I thought the unions were supposed to work for their members......this just gets funnier and funnier...come on, you union nitwits...come up with another reason to send in a payroll deduction and pay $21 per fortnight....

ASNSW uniformed management who are members of the HSU like us will bitterly fight this one out to the end to try and keep control of us. They will typically use brown-nosing delegates to spread the propaganda to try and discredit EMSPA. The disinformation has started already. You should hear some of the crap they are spreading about EMSPA in my area already. I know how corrupt some of these delegates can be so I wasn’t really that surprised. I guess at least that gives Rochford a break for a while.

UPDATE 6.56am: PARAMEDICS plan to take 10-hour breaks between shifts as part of industrial action over better pay and conditions.
The state's ambulance union will appear in the Industrial Relations Commission this morning to get the ball rolling on a list of 19 different actions they plan to take in coming weeks, including stop-work meetings.
The union action, which could put patients' lives at risk, would be its first strike in 36 years and follows the breakdown of year-long talks with the State Government over better pay and conditions.
The union is hopeful it will conduct its first stop-work meeting for four hours within the next two to three weeks.

A paramedic - who wished to remain anonymous - said the clear majority of ambulance members across the state were right behind the industrial action and thought the public would be too.
Unfortunately it will only work if it DOES have a negative impact on the community.

EMSPA have only been running for only 2 months. To date they have recruited nearly 600 new members all of which are Paramedics employed by the NSW Ambulance Service. EMSPA have provided an opportunity for Paramedics to be represented impartially, fairly and without any consideration of politics in any form.
EMSPA have also provided an opportunity for all Paramedics to have their own union and not management’s union. No Officer above the rank of Team Leader will be allowed to join EMSPA. There has been a long history of corruption and coercion between uniformed managers and the HSU at our expense. EMPSA will put an end to this unethical system with all negotiations based on transparency, fairness and integrity.

For anyone who is interested and who has checked their emails, EMPSA has sent out a detailed clarification on what happened in Queensland.
So if you are member of the association you will either already have read it, or will soon.
It provides details on what happened and what will happen in QLD.
For all the others who are not aware, then let 'hysteria reign'.
Maybe someone will let you know about it one day, as they should so that you can then ultimately make a decided opinion with 'all' the facts.
If you want to know, you are welcome to contact your EMPSA RLO or the executive team and I am sure they will point you in the right direction.
For all the 'doomsdayers' out there, I just want to know - who exactly is holding the pistol against your head and 'making' you stay here with an organisation that you are so flagrantly annoyed with?
If you don't like it, no-one is making you stay, why not consider other avenues for you and your families ongoing well being, but for Christ sake just stop the bitching and moaning about how everything is stuffed and there is nothing anyone can do about it.
There are now 3 options for us all as I see it:
1/ Be a party to no association (like I had for 9 years prior to joining EMPSA), didn't do me any harm at all. Got everything everyone else did {good and bad}, and saved myself close to $500 a year in union fees, {filled up about 3 or 4 full shopping trolleys full of groceries, or a green slip}.
2/ Join or remain with the HSU and see how you go there, ask around and see what the general consensus is about these guys.
3/ Join EMPSA and give them a go for 12 - 18 months, support them, and then reassess your options at the end of it all.
Some of you go on like you think the friggin' organisation is going to fall over if you don't turn up the next day.
Get a reality check will ya.

I’m starting to think nothing is going to change. Rozelle knows who the bullies and harassers are and have not done a thing other than run courses to date. In some areas there have been multiple complaints, multiple harassment claims and a number of officer suicides directly related to either mismanagement or harassment. As I said in one post before one of them has even been covered up from the public forum. Even the government has rejected the findings of the last parliamentary inquiry. From what I have read in the paper recently very few of the issues raised in the inquiry will be addressed. A Labor government by the way. Funny that. The last Corporate Culture Survey had only 260 or so respondents out of 1000. 260 officers giving an appalling overview of management as usual. The other 740 it seems couldn’t be bothered it seems to even fill out the survey. Why? Because no one takes any notice of the results.
These surveys must cost a lot of taxpayers money to run. The surveys have been run ever 3 years for the last 10 years or so and it’s nearly time for another. Officers keep on identifying core issues such as career advancement opportunities but nothing ever seems to change. Unless you work in Sydney you really can’t progress past P1 as there have only ever been a limited number of positions advertised elsewhere. Yes, Malone and his bumbling band of nitwits certainly have a lot to answer for our appalling Corporate Culture results.
But here is the thing. Why do they want us to keep taking these surveys if nobody ever addresses the issues that we raise? It just doesn’t make any sense. 10 years of surveys and nothing ha changed? Maybe the surveys should be all bundled up and sent to the ICAC because as I see it there is no doubt the service is wasting public money on them big time.

I went to a meeting at point clare recently, Kim Muller said "HSU can't afford to fight that one for you" because you only represent 3% of our membership...

No I reckon Spider is right. Rochford is the only honest and credible manager in the job. It is just that everyone else treats him like a mushroom - feeds him bullshit and keeps him in the dark. As Spider has said it is so unfair because he is told lies by the other managers who cover up their mates in the HSU. He is not responsible for the bullying and harrassment and lowest morale mongst each and every paramedic in the ASNSW at the moment. It is just that the other managers are smarter and can bluff him. It is not his fault. Just leave poor Spider and Rochford alone you big bully!
